Early History

From Solanis Roleplay

The early years of Solanis are marked by the Great Migration, during which humans along with other alien species arrived in the system via FTL travel. Though the origins of each race are varied, each had the common element of needing to leave their originating system for survival. Minor conflicts between settling groups were an almost daily occurrence, and so the majority of skirmishes have been lost to history. Recordings of major events did however survive, giving insight into the system's first years.

2202 | Humans arrive in Solanis

The trip from Old Earth to Solanis took just over two years, even with FTL capabilities. Samuel had ensured that even though closer alternate earth planets did exist, with Solanis just over 1,000 light years from Old Earth, the planet it had found was the best option overall. The then named Earth Fleet of FTL ships dropped out of FTL speed on IV Marrus, 2202, just outside the Solanis system. Unbeknownst to the human race, they were not the only race to arrive at this time. Samuel, working of its own accord, had sent signals out into space for other species to find, detailing FTL travel and sharing the coordinates for Solanis. As a result, the Quiori had arrived nearly a year ahead of the humans, settling themselves onto the planet Tavaari. Humans, having received messages from the Quiori ahead of their arrival, decided to land on the other earth-like planet of the system, naming it Calderia after the man who discovered it.

2210 | First Encounters

Humans and Quiori began their time as seclusionists, content in letting each other inhabit their respective planets unopposed. With the arrival of the Wokani and Nann in 2208, the first two races to inhabit Solanis began to make more frequent communications. The first in-person interactions between races did not occur until 2210, when humans in sub-FTL derelicts landed on Tavaari to trade with the Quiori. With the Nann's construction of mining settlements on Venrar, trade in Solanis began to branch out rapidly. By 2214 each planet had at least one major hub of trade. Though these first interactions between races were peaceful, there were skirmishes and one-off battles on the outskirts of settled civilizations.

2337 | Calderian War

In the beginning of the human's time in Solanis they followed patterns similar to what had been recorded in the histories of Old Earth. City-states named after their former countries, named remnants, had been settled all across the surface of Calderia. Two of the biggest Remnants, those of New America (often abbreviated as 'NA') and the USSR, began hostile actions following territorial disputes. While the remnants kept primarily to their city boundaries, they did enforce taxation and provided services to smaller settlements outside city limits. A number of these minor settlements became the site for engagements that would spark the first major conflict in Solanis. What began as an almost exclusively human conflict quickly brought other races in as many alien races had begun to settle on Calderia and intermingle with the human population. Due to the long stretches of open jungle and forest, much of the conflict involved brutal guerrilla tactics and saw the first fielding of exo-suit technology for warfare. Multiple remnants became involved due to the political climate, with NA and the USSR calling their allies to bolster their forces. The system's fledgling economy began to suffer by 2341, drawing Nann colonies and Quiori mercenaries into the fight.

2452 | Pangea Accords

Many colonies petitioned for both sides in the Calderian War to make peace, citing concerns of economic destabilization and population concerns. In 2451 delegates from all races currently involved in the Calderian War were called to Larvone by the Wokani tribes in order to negotiate peace, a request that was honored due to the Wokani's neutrality throughout the conflict. The Pangea Accords were officially signed in 2452, bringing an end to the war. The accord outlined the terms of peace, with neither side surrendering but instead all of humanity on Calderia forming a new 'super colony' named Pangea. Another part of the accord brought the outskirt colonies into the newly formed Pangea as well, which caused some discord amongst colonies that had strong individual identities. A few of these colonies left the planet altogether, settling instead on Solstice and Rhaegar.

2862 | Alexandria is built

Samuel had become a friend to all races since arriving in Solanis, and so in 2855 plans were proposed by the AI to build a space station on which to house it so it could be utilized by all races more effectively. Construction of this space station, Alexandria, was completed on XXII Desus, 2861. After Samuel was uploaded to the station he began to compile and store data in massive quantities. Histories of each race, technological advancements, and medical records made up a portion of the data collected. The station was often nicknamed 'the Library' or 'Alexandria's Library', harkening to an old human legend.
