Rhaegar

Rhaegar (|Ray-gar|) is the first planet from the sun in the Solanis system. It is a barren world covered by nothing but red soil and rock, with much of the planets natural resources already tapped. Various pockets of civilization remain in what are locally known as 'Habs', or artificial habitats. Currently, Rhaegar is the home of the Black Star Collective, a government in opposition to the Republic. The shipyards of Rhaegar are where most ships are manufactured however, and where many go to practice their flying.

Physical Characteristics

Rhaegar is a desert-like rocky planet with a trace atmosphere. While having a similar size and mass to Calderia, it has a lower gravity. The surface of Rhaegar is heavily cratered, with large rock formations, cliffs, thrust faults, and ray systems formed by old impacts. The orange-red hue of the soil and dust of the planet is due to its heavy concentration of iron oxide. While having no surface water, Rhaegar does feature large aquifers throughout the crust of the planet. The planet does have a layer of fine, reddish orange dust coating much of its surface which is kicked up in the low atmosphere when disturbed and takes a long time to settle.

Population

The population of Rhaegar is predominantly Aoi, with Humans being the next largest demographic. While Aoi is the predominant race on the planet, many of the customs and generally practiced holidays owe their origins to humans or the Great War. The overall culture of the Rhaegarian people is one of individuality and self-reliance, owing origin to the long siege the planet endured during the Great War. Due to the long period of sustained violence and suffering, longer than any other planet as Rhaegar was the first to be contacted, the War still holds a great cultural significance. Rhaegarians, regardless of race, pride themselves on hard working attitudes and a staunch believe in the industrial complex of the planet.

Since the planet is the home of the Black Star Collective (BSC), its presence is strongest there. All of the habitats on the planet have signed their loyalties to the BSC and fall under BSC jurisdiction. Having also been the planet to most vehemently oppose the creation of the Republic, most Rhaegarians show preference to local governance and dispise the idea of off-planet representatives having a say in their politics.

Cities & Settlements

The inhabitants of Rhaegar are housed within habitats that dot the planet's surface. These habitats are both climate and gravity controlled and provide a comfortable living environment for all species in Solanis.

Elysium - A city-habitat known for its size and fortification walls which remain from the Great War.

Black Star - A city-habitat sitting near Rhaegar's equator. Currently serving as the BSC's capital.

Vall - BSC's military center, just south of Black Star. Contains the Black Star Military Academy.

Toru - Solanis' largest shipyard, owned by Kilo8 Industries. Produces military vessels for BSC and civilian craft.

Ganymede - A small moon which contains a precious metals mine.

Thebe - A miniature moon.
